Chi Alpha visits Life Child

Home / Chi Alpha visits Life Child

At the end of June we were really blessed to have another group of students from the Chi Alpha ministry in Arkansas volunteer at our Life Child projects in Cape Town.

This time round Matt Carpenter brought 75 Chi Alpha students to Cape Town and last week they visited Kosovo and Samora Machel to volunteer in various children’s’ projects.

On the Wednesday the team ran a holiday club at the Weltevreden hall in Samora Machel for 300+ the kids of the community. Then on Thursday 35+ students broke up into groups of 3 and walked through Kosovo informal community to 13 of the shack crèches supported by Life Child – Ubomi where they presented a morning of drama and art activities, while the rest of the team participated in much needed painting and building projects. The first team of guys got down to hard labour re-building a 40 meter wood fence, led by our very own ‘Rocky’, while a 2nd team pulled off a leaky crèche roof and replaced it with brand new zinc roofing. The rest of the team took to painting the fence, and two crèches, brightening up the lives of both the children and locals in the neighborhood.

They were such a blessing and we were grateful to have them.

We look forward to continued partnership and looking forward to see what the future holds.
