Key Outputs / Responsibilities

A Fund Developer would be responsible for all fundraising initiatives, developing relationships with potential donors, managing fundraising campaigns and recruiting sponsors and champions. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers and champions, you will hone your speaking, writing, and leadership abilities while moving Life Child closer to its financial goals.

Raising funds and reaching fundraising goals for Life Child, supported by:

– Promoting awareness of Life Child’s mission and work
– Cultivating a network of dedicated donors, volunteers and champions.
– Identifying fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals
– Forming strong relationships with external stakeholders
– Ensuring major donors are satisfied and kept in the loop
– Donor database management (Salesforce)
– Donor communication including welcome packs, end-year sponsor packs and thank you letters
– Managing and tracking donations

• Raise funds and regularly meet or surpass fundraising targets.
• Research potential donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs and donation habits to understand how to position Life Child to them.
• Assist in brainstorming and creating new methods to raise funds for Life Child.
• Leverage technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities.
• Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns.
• Assist in planning and coordinating events meant to raise funds and coordinate activities of volunteers, interns and champions related to event planning and execution.
• Maintain and manage database of donors/sponsors/champions and ensure regular donor communications.
• Build upon existing donor relationships and form new donor relationships on a regular basis.
• Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that may be interested in gift-giving.
• Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors.
• Approaching businesses, local authorities, trusts and individuals to secure funding.
• Recruiting volunteers/champions and coordinating their work.
• Work closely with Fund Development team and execute goals as directed by Fund Development Manager.
• Capturing leads and donor information on donor database and keeping it updated
• Sending out donor communication including welcome packs, end-year sponsor packs and thank you letters, as directed by Life Child Sponsorship and Communications departments.
• Tracking sponsor/partner payments and following up with donors when payments have not been made
• Providing outcome reports as requested by Life Child International Office and Life Child UK Board.

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least one year of proven fundraising experience
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
• Creativity and persuasion skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
• Sales and negotiation abilities
• The ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Initiative and the ability to solve problems.
• Strong leadership skills
• Quick thinker and ability to make decisions under pressure
• Adept at managing tasks, planning events, and balancing priorities
• Confidence in public speaking
  Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, journalism or related/applicable area
• Certificate in Fundraising, Diploma in Fundraising, or similar qualification
• Competence in Salesforce donor management database
• Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and/or fundraising letters

• Driver’s licence and passport
• Travel nationally and internationally
• Criminal record and Child Protection clearance
• Subscribe to Life Child Code of Conduct
